Mets Win Third Straight, Nationals Lose Fourth in a Row

The New York Mets beat the Washington Nationals 2-1 on Starling Marte's single in the 10th inning on Tuesday night in Washington. The Mets have now won three straight games while the Nationals have lost four in a row.

Marte's single scored Brandon Nimmo, who had walked to lead off the inning. Nationals reliever Tanner Rainey walked two batters and hit another in the inning, loading the bases for Marte.

The Mets had a chance to win the game in the ninth inning, but Eduardo Escobar struck out with runners on first and second.

Bassitt Continues Strong Start

Mets starter Chris Bassitt continued his strong start to the season, allowing just one run on four hits over six innings. He struck out seven batters and walked one.

Nationals starter Josiah Gray was also solid, allowing just one run on three hits over five innings. He struck out six batters and walked two.

The Nationals took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning on a solo home run by Joey Meneses.

The Mets tied the game in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Jeff McNeil.

The game went to extra innings, and the Mets finally broke through in the 10th inning on Marte's single.
